Jaylend Dashield

Hey! I’m Jaylend Dashield, currently a clinical Social Work Intern. I attend University of Chicago Crown school and I’m in my last year of the MSW program. As a former athlete, I was encouraged to play through injuries and to grind until I reached my goals by any means necessary. This mindset has left me with many scars, and I am now on a journey of healing and growth. In my search for community and academic fulfillment, I’ve attended five different universities and have considered different career paths. My story is an ongoing one that is about putting one foot in front of the other, and each day becoming 1 % better than who I was yesterday. My approach is client focused through being curious, empathic, collaborative, and mindful. All these characteristics are what I aim to imbue my clients with. I want my space to feel like one where you can explore, question, free yourself from a lot of the restrictions and boundaries. Like Maya Angelou said, “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.”
