Mike Granzow

Hey there! I’m Mike (he/him), Clinical Social Work Intern currently pursuing my MSW at University of Illinois Chicago. Overall, I am driven by my value of harmony, empathy, and social justice, and I am deeply committed to advancing underserved populations. I thrive on making personal connections with my clientele while providing realistic tools and resources to improve their efficacy.

No one form of therapy is right for everyone and as such, an eclectic approach allows for me to meet clientele where they are. I’m experienced in performing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Solutions Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness among other approaches. In therapy sessions, I work alongside clientele to achieve progress through compassion, critical thinking, and down-to-earth conversation. I am experienced in working with people of various ages, races, orientations, and genders.

Over the years, I have worked as an AmeriCorps, a community organizer, and a therapist within the DCFS system. Practicing therapy has provided me with a valuable setting for my interests while maintaining a focus on advocacy for clients in difficult or unjust environments. I believe that it takes great courage to confront challenges and seek support through a therapeutic journey; I look forward to celebrating this courage and supporting your journey towards wellness!
